We have a number of MaccaX members on the Big Island this week, both racing and supporting.
Heidi Sowerby, who was featured on Witsup’s hydration and storage analysis of Kona-bound women, has been soaking up the experience since late last week. She writes, “Am in triathlon heaven.” Here she is at Dig Me Beach, the swim start for Saturday’s Ironman World Championship:
Rommel Mangulabnan is in Kona with his wife Jen. He’s spectating, but also looking forward to a few other things. He says, “I am also looking forward to: 1. Morning swims out to the coffee boat 2. Running shirtless along Alii drive 3. Stalking all the pro men and women; and 4. Being part of a Guiness world record for the most people to run in an event only wearing their undies. I have trained hard for this and am ready.”
And of course our favorite stalker Jo is right where the action is. Having breakfast with Paul Phillips of Competitive Images, hanging out in the front row of Breakfast with Bob Babbitt… She’s going to be everywhere this week.
Macca is set to arrive in Kona today. Meet him at the CLIF Bar booth on Wednesday from 3:30-4:00pm; first 100 people receive a signed Team CLIF Bar visor.
