Team MaccaX got an early heads-up that the next Super League Triathlon event would be held in Jersey, one of the Channel Islands south of the UK. A number of our team members jumped on the opportunity to spectate, but they got more than they hoped for when they were roped into competing in the Corporate Mix.
The MaccaNOW Foundation, Lee Marine, and Weartech sponsored relay teams kicked off each day of race weekend with some fast and furious racing in the morning, then settled back to watch some amazing action among the pro athletes in the afternoon.
Adrian O’Brien said, “To be invited to race the Corporate Mix and be part of the weekend has been out of this world. Triathletes race and party hard. Meeting so many down-to-earth people, relaxing and racing with friends and helping each other — I have never laughed and drank so much. I thought the 2014 MaccaX camp would never be beaten. I thought Roth 2015 would never be beaten. This weekend has topped all of them. Here’s to next year and Super League Jersey 2018.”
Lucy Richardson enthused about being able to race for the MaccaNOW Foundation and make a charitable difference for families battling cancer. “So proud and happy to be part of this group. Two days of racing with the best team mates a girl could have.”
Rebekah Bruhwiller had been part of Super League Hamilton Island as a swimwear sponsor and returned as part of the MaccaX contingent. She was also instrumental in getting the team’s custom kit made alongside the pro athlete kits for Jersey. She said, “The three founders and their staff did once again a great job. I mixed work with sport and fun. Met heaps of new people.”
