Off Season 12 Week – Beginner (SB)

We’re approaching that time of the year where athletes start to wonder: what should I do now? My season is almost over so what can I do to race faster next year?

I recommend a training program concentrating on aspects often forgotten by most athletes during the racing season :

* Concentrate on Motor Skills
* Don’t be a (January) National Champion
* Train Your Weaknesses
* Strength Training
* Plan Your Racing Season

Weekly Total hours – 7 to 9  hours

Beginner – If you are new to triathlon, have 7 to 9 hours/week to workout  and do not have any races coming up in the next 12 weeks, this program is for you ! This Off Season Plan will focus on the Fundamentals of triathlon training, working on overall strength, speed and skills/technique. This is a perfect plan for you to follow before you get into your race season. This plan is applicable to athletes racing all distances !!!

Women’s Specific Off Season Plan – 12 weeks

When the off season approaches and the weather changes, motivation to continue a training regime can fall by the wayside. Next tri season can feel so far away and mapping out season goals feels like a waste of time.

This is when you need a change of pace and perhaps some other activities that are not so performance driven.

My women’s specific off season training plan, provides 12 weeks of mixed women’s targeted training. The key is to keep motivation and enjoyment high whilst performing workouts that actually add benefit to your physicality as a female triathlete. This plan gives you options to select workouts that you normally (on a triathlon training plan) would not have the time to do or experience.

This 12 week plan includes up to 10 hours of sessions per week.

Off Season Plan – 12 week Intermediate (Belinda)

When the triathlon season is done and you have taken your break, motivation to get back into training is often hard to find. The best approach to reintroduce yourself to training, is to mix it up a little. There are a number of activities and sessions that you can add into an Off Season Training Plan that not only provide a change of focus, but are actually beneficial in making you stronger and conditioned for next season.

This 12 week Off Season Plan provides a great platform to use to stay in touch with moderate aerobic fitness and strength endurance. At the completion of this plan you will be more than ready to begin pre season training.
