Fat to Fit and Beyond: Mike Robinson’s Story
In December 2011 weighed in at 118 kg and struggled to run 3km without stopping. In December 2012 I put my head down and started to change my life day after day with two goals in mind: 1. To lose weight and 2. Complete my first triathlon. Read more…
We pick you up when you’re down…
Emma Hudson loves triathlon, but the last year hasn’t been kind to her. In April her knee cap needed cortisone and she had to pull out of Laguna Lang Co Vietnam. In June, a hip stress fracture caused by osteopenia meant she had to cancel Ironman 70.3 Philippines and Sunshine Coast. In August she suffered from a bike fall that fractured her clavicle and caused wounds so deep road gravel was found pelvis-deep during secondary surgery a week later.
In October she found that the fall had been worse than she thought and a neck scan confirmed multiple dislocations and displaced fractures, which needed surgery and the fusing of several vertebrae in her neck.
She shared these bumps on the road with us over the Facebook group. After consulting with team expert Ben Greenfield (and countless specialists), she thought she would take to take a year off endurance sports to work on bone density issues. But this girl’s spirit is irrepressible, and a few months later she was back to training, a few steps at a time. That’s her at Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak trail in March.
A few team members decided to band together and send her a welcome-back gift…
We want to recognize Evelyn Herrmann Salama and Henning von Poser for spearheading this effort. Emma, we hope to see you racing in this kit when you’re ready!
No matter where you are in your triathlon journey — whether you’re deep in training, or on an extended break — there’s a place in Team MaccaX for you. That’s why we’re rolling out our new membership tiers in May to give you more value.
